Invest in our next generations by becoming a Youth Engagement volunteer to raise awareness of mental health, facilitate discussions and increase capacity in growth and resilience.
Through our extensive training program, Youth Engagement volunteers develop skills in active listening, empathy, workshop facilitation and classroom management.

Volunteer Duties
Youth Engagement volunteers facilitate workshops delivered in-person at high schools in Richmond, promoting mental wellness, suicide awareness, healthy relationships, and self-development. As a Youth Engagement volunteer, you will:

Assist in workshop delivery and classroom activities with staff facilitators

Support group discussions on topics about mental health, relationship building, and self-development

Maintain clear boundaries and support a safe learning environment
- Contribute ideas for outreach or community engagement
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and check-ins as needed
Minimum Requirements
- At least 19 years of age
- Strong command of spoken English
- Interest in youth education, mental health promotion, and prevention work
- Demonstrated ability to be empathetic, non-judgmental, and sensitive to boundaries
- Availability for workshop delivery during school hours (Weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM) at least twice (3 hours) per month for 1 year
- Ability to travel to schools and community sites in Richmond by own means
- Successful completion of Chimo Youth Engagement training and a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Experience in youth work / public speaking / mental health related community work is an asset
