Community Engagement

Invest in our next generations by becoming a Community Engagement volunteer to raise awareness of mental health, facilitate discussions and increase capacity in growth and resilience.
Through our extensive training program, Community Engagement volunteers develop active listening skills, empathy, workshop facilitation and classroom management.

Training Details
Community Engagement volunteers are professionally trained presenters who facilitate workshops in Richmond high schools on the following topics:
- Suicide Awareness
- Stress Management
- Teen Relationship Abuse Prevention (T.R.A.P.)
- Communication Skills
- Self-Image
Volunteers will gain confidence in workshop facilitation, public speaking, as well as learning about the resources available within the Richmond community.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 19 years of age
- Good command of spoken English
- Capacity to be non-judgmental
- Willingness to learn
- Interest in working with youth
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Deliver minimum of 3 workshops per month for six months within a school year, which is equivalent to approximately 45 hours of service
- Must be available during school hours on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Be responsible for own travel
