Workshop for Secondary StudentsThrough Peace of Mind workshops, trained volunteers help secondary students to build awareness of social, emotional and mental health issues.
The workshops then aim to develop skills that promote resilience in response to common challenges high school students may encounter.

Suicide Awareness
Complementary Classes in BC: English, Active Living, Leadership, and CLE
Through this interactive presentation, students gain an awareness of warning signs, risk factors and feelings of suicide. Students also develop the skills to help someone who may be suicidal or experiencing a crisis. This workshop gives students a safe environment to talk and learn about suicide through a video and activities and practice effective communication skills.

A fun and insightful presentation aimed at helping senior high school students recognize stress levels and gain effective stress management and coping skills. Time management, organization and assertiveness are just some of the skills students gain through this workshop. These skills are essential in managing and coping with everyday stress, as well as added stress during exams, final projects and beginning life after high school

Mental Health and Building Resiliency (new)

A brand new workshop focusing on helping students explore their relationships with their own mental health. This workshop aims to help students identify where they stand on the topic, touches on barriers to accessing mental health services, how to overcome them, what it means to practice self-care, and some tools for resiliency that students can use as they navigate the rest of their teenage years.

Teen Relationship Abuse Prevention (T.R.A.P.)
The T.R.A.P. workshop creates awareness of healthy and unhealthy relationships. Students learn about relationship abuse and gain skills to recognize an unhealthy relationship. Students also learn how to help someone who may be in an unhealthy relationship. In this workshop, a safe environment is created for students to discuss this sensitive topic through the use of group discussions, video and small group activities.

This workshop equips students with basic communication skills. Through activities, interactive discussions, and role-plays, students learn and practice effective communication skills, active listening, assertiveness, and how to be supportive.

Mirror-Image (Self Image)
Complementary Classes in BC: Active Health, CLE, and Leadership
The focus of this workshop is to introduce students to the topic of self-image, as well as the concept of a healthy body-image. The workshop encourages discussion on strategies to improve self-esteem to counteract the effects of media. It also explores the influence of the media and teaches students to critically examine the messages they receive on a daily basis. Students come away empowered and equipped with tools to feel positive about themselves.
