Access to housing is a key pillar of the work we do here at Chimo. Having a safe, stable shelter devoid of any violence is a basic human right- and we aim to help those deprived of this right through providing transitional housing, rent supplements and outreach.
Our housing services consist of:
Nova Transition House
Nova House offers safe, temporary shelter for women and their children who are escaping violence. Its facilities act as a place of refuge, and give women the time and space to heal, consider their options, and make important life decisions.
BC Rent Bank
The Rent Bank aims to provide individuals and families with loans to prevent homelessness due to a one- time unexpected circumstance. Our loans can be used for rental or utility arrears, a damage deposit and or, first month’s rent.
Homeless Prevention Program
The Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) provides individuals in identified at-risk groups facing homelessness with rent supplements and support services to help them access rental housing in the private (non-subsidized) housing market.
